Frequently Asked Questions
Can I visit and meet the animals without volunteering?
Yes! We welcome visitors by appointment. Please call ahead at (308) 856-9826 to schedule a time. This helps us ensure staff availability and a quality experience for both you and our animals.
What happens to animals after they're rescued?
Every animal receives immediate veterinary assessment, food, shelter, and medical treatment. They undergo rehabilitation—physical and emotional—for as long as needed. Some animals are adopted to qualified homes, while others become permanent residents if they have special needs or behavioral challenges.
Do you adopt animals out?
Yes, when appropriate. Animals available for adoption go through a thorough screening process to ensure proper placement. We require home visits, references, and ongoing follow-up. Our priority is finding the right match—not a fast placement.
I found a neglected animal. What do I do?
Call us immediately at (308) 856-9826. Document the situation with photos if safe to do so. If the animal is in immediate danger, contact local law enforcement or animal control. We work closely with authorities and can often intervene quickly to provide emergency care.
Do you rescue dogs or cats?
No. We specialize in equines (horses, donkeys, mules) and livestock (goats). We focus our resources on animals that often have fewer rescue options. For dogs and cats, we can refer you to local shelters and rescue organizations.
How do I know my donation is being used responsibly?
We're a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit with full financial transparency. 100% of donations go directly to animal care—feed, veterinary treatment, hoof care, and facility maintenance. We have no paid staff; all labor is volunteer-based. You can request our annual financial reports at any time.
